Divecore WFL Strap — A Modern Waffle with Proven Performance.

The WFL Strap is our latest development at Divecore, a purpose-built diving strap that blends the vintage character of a traditional waffle design with the technical upgrades and proven ergonomics of our HP model.

Based on the HP, the WFL retains all the essential features of the original while adopting a waffle-style structure for a more classic aesthetic.

Key Features:

Waffle Pattern Redesign,
Incorporates a structured waffle surface and a micro-adjustment system using large round holes placed close together for improved sizing precision and security.

Material: Upgraded HNBR Compound,
Made from upgraded Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (HNBR), the WFL offers a high-performance feel comparable to FKM, but without any forever chemicals reputation.

HNBR is widely used in aerospace and automotive sealing applications due to its exceptional resistance to salt water, wet heat, and oil, as well as its superior tensile strength and wear resistance. Unlike conventional nitrile, HNBR is hydrogenated to stabilize the molecular structure, giving it outstanding durability, flexibility, and long-term resilience even in harsh marine environments.

HNBR Advantages:

Superior Strength & Durability:
Physically stronger and more tear-resistant than FKM. Resists cuts and nicks better. Higher tensile strength: typically 20–25 MPa vs. ~10–15 MPa for FKM.

Low-Temperature Flexibility:
FKM tends to stiffen or crack around −15 °C to −20 °C. HNBR remains flexible down to −40 °C, making it ideal for cold-water diving and winter conditions.

Resistance to Water and Wet Heat:
HNBR resists hot water, steam, and humid conditions better than FKM, which can degrade faster under prolonged moisture and heat exposure. Excellent choice for marine and tropical environments.

Outstanding Saltwater Resistance:
Originally developed for marine and oilfield environments exposed to salt, heat, and pressure. Maintains tensile strength, flexibility, and surface integrity even after long-term seawater immersion.

Compression Set & Long-Term Flexibility:
Maintains elastic recovery longer when repeatedly compressed or bent. FKM can become stiff or lose rebound faster under mechanical cycling.

Where FKM Still Wins:
Superior dry heat resistance — FKM can withstand continuous temperatures up to ~200–250 °C, while HNBR maxes out around ~150–170 °C. Superior chemical and fuel resistance, including aggressive solvents and hydrocarbons. Better UV and ozone stability — FKM’s carbon–fluorine bonds resist fading, cracking, and elasticity loss even after long-term exposure.
